White Carrara – A Popular Choice for Bathrooms
Marble is a popular surface choice amongst many designers and homeowners simply because of its known durability and elegant look. And within our community of marble lovers, we have often been asked this one question,
So…what really is the difference between Calacatta and White Carrara?
The similarities and the differences can best be described by their role in architectural design throughout history, their quarry origin, and their physical characteristics. Both of these popular stones are quarried and imported from the Carrara region of Tuscany, Italy. Both White Carrara and Calacatta date back to the 17th century where it was used in Ancient Rome for famous buildings and sculptures that we still see today.

Calacatta – A Classic Choice for Kitchens
Calacatta can be used in residential as well as commercial projects. Its appeal consists of dramatic taupe veins complemented by a soft white backdrop. It is popularly used for kitchen countertops, bathrooms, and even as accent wall pieces.
White Carrara stone is often used for major commercial projects because of its price difference as compared to Calacatta. It is a popular choice for vanities, walls and floors. White Carrara has a grayer and softer veining while sharing the signature Carrara Italian white color as the Calacatta.
Both remain as a popular choice amongst many New York designers!
