Three MAJOR design trends for 2019

We are a little over a month into 2019, and homeowners, designers, architects, and developers are bustling to know what the next biggest trends will be. So we went ahead and did our homework, and this is what we think will be important to look out for this upcoming year.

Enjoy!

1. Materials that will last a lifetime

As the cost of construction, renovation, and homeownership increases, consumers are looking to invest in products that will simply last longer and require less maintenance.

HG recommends Neolith as a great product for those looking to invest in the long haul! Neolith is renown for its durability, resistance to weather, and easy maintenance, making it our top choice for consumers looking for longevity in their products.

2. Neutral Colored Stone

As people want to evoke a more natural mood, a rise in interest for neutral colors (grey, off-white, grey-white) is inevitable. The use of natural building materials like wood, stone, and ceramic helps “counteract our very unnatural lifestyles[2]”, so this idea of having neutral stone as well is believed to create a more natural feel in the home.

HG recommends Neolith’s Iron Grey and Iron Moss, as well as Caesarstone’s Concrete Taupe to achieve the natural look with neutral colors and tones!

3. Cladding, for more than just walls!

The practice of cladding surfaces has been popular in Europe for quite a while. That is, using a full slab in an installation, rather than fabricating it into smaller formats like tiles. From a design perspective, cladding allows for the retention of the natural patterns found in stone, as large format slabs are used. Being able to preserve the natural veining and movement of the material creates a stand-out piece!

Typical cladding in both traditional and modern American homes are found in kitchen backsplashes, vanity’s, and bathroom walls. We predict that cladding will be used in non-traditional areas of the home, such as for interior and exterior floors, walls, countertops, and more!

Neolith’s large format slabs (5′ x 10′) are a perfect cladding option for interior and exterior floors and walls, and kitchen countertops and backsplashes.
